It is assumed that all sapphires are heat-treated to improve their color and clarity. In fact, unheated sapphires are very rare. The show-stopping focus of this ring is the large 6.11 carat octagonal step cut unheated sapphire at its center. This piece is accompanied by a Sapphire Report by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) attesting that the sapphire contains no indications of heat treatment. The luscious violetish-blue stone is accented by 0.60 carat total of baguette cut diamonds channel set in platinum.
