In the 19th century, a slew of archaeological discoveries in Italy spawned a renewed interest in classical history — including jewelry! This style is called "Etruscan Revival," named for Etruria, an ancient civilization near Rome that predated its founding and influenced its culture.
This cameo is made of shell and features an ornate carving of the Three Graces, daughters of Zeus who bestowed what is most pleasurable and beneficent in nature and society: Euphrosyne (mirth), Aglaia (elegance) and Thalia (youth and beauty).
The cameo is set in an 18 karat yellow gold brooch setting that's outlined in delicate wire and features fine gold granulation. Four small rosettes punctuate the compass points and the pin fastens with an antique C-clasp.
When visible, the Virtual Try-on button (located above the Add to Cart button) allows you to try on rings, bangles, and earrings using just your phone or computer. Other pieces—such as necklaces and brooches—are not eligible.
We do our best to make sure that scale is accurate. If the piece you're trying on has a width or length listed, the try-on experience will be as accurate as possible. Please note that the female models in the stock photos wear a size 7 ring and the gents a size 10.
Jewelry is meant to be worn but it's also an expensive ornament. Here are a few suggestions to extend the life of your jewelry:
