We were initially taken by this mounting's movement, the quality of its diamonds, and the physical presence of the piece on the hand. Originally set with a synthetic star sapphire, we removed the center stone and replaced it with this vibrant and mystifying old-stock black opal doublet from the Pedy mines in Australia. Opals are the perfect stone for the offbeat person -- and they happen to be the birthstone for October!
