Some jewelry is pure art!
This Victorian Etruscan revival locket, made in either the late 1800s or very early 1900s, features a natural piece of green jade carved in the shape of a ram's head. Framing the jade are forget-me-nots and gold swirls punctuated with gold granulation. The back of the piece is open but covered with a piece of glass, making this receptacle a likely piece of mourning jewelry!
The ram's head in Chinese culture is a good luck totem and a harbinger of prosperity and wealth.
NB: The photographed chain is not included in the purchase.
