This late Art Deco diamond ring is a lovely study in movement. Ribbons of platinum loop and cross over one another, each band edged in fine milgrain and bound with ribbed straps, so the whole design seems to twist around its center. A small scroll curls at one side, and the openwork between the ribbons keeps the dome light and full of sparkle.

At the heart is an approximately 0.52 carat transitional cut diamond. It sits in a raised, faceted head that frames it with bright, polished metal. Transitional cuts bridge the old European cut and the modern round brilliant, and they belong to the years when Deco geometry was softening into the curves of the Retro era.

Approximately 0.75 carats total weight of old mine, old European, and single cut diamonds are bead-set along the ribbons, bringing the warm, flickering light of antique cuts. Underneath, a pierced gallery lets light reach the stones from below. It’s a striking vintage cocktail ring and a distinctive alternative to a traditional engagement ring.
