Take a deep breath, because you're going to need it. These antique earrings, likely made in the 1800s, are exquisite.

Topped in sterling silver, and backed in 18K yellow gold, the top of these earrings is a gorgeous filigreed floral spiral, peppered with rose cut and single cut diamonds. Each earring has a natural pear shaped opal (12.5 x 8.3) suspended from a diamond studded claw-like crown.

When these earrings first came into our shop, we called our independent GIA graduate gemologist and asked him to examine the opals. He described them as: natural and lighter than black opals, but darker than white opals ("gray opals"). On the brightness scale, they are at level 4 to level 4.5, indicating an intense play of color (the scale peaks at 5). They appear as bright in darkness as they do in the light.

Jewelry is meant to be worn, but it's also an expensive ornament. Here are a few helpful suggestions to extend the life of your jewelry:

  • We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or your trusted local jeweler every six months.
  • You should remove your rings before swimming or performing any household cleaning, as harsh chemicals can interact with precious metals and permanently damage some stones.
  • Generally, we suggest that you do not wear your jewelry to the gym, in the shower, or while sleeping.

We do not believe in selling something we cannot service. Should an issue arise, please get in touch. We offer an extensive range of repair services and are here to help!
