Lapis is one of my favorite stones. Every time I see it, I can't help but think of the Mask of King Tutankhamun -- the eyebrows and eye surrounds are made of lapis inlay. It is a rich, vibrant blue that looks like clean, deep ocean water. This particular piece of lapis weighs 10.63 carats and has inclusions of pyrite, which look like flecks of gold.
The stone is set in a geometric Art Deco mounting with a profile of flowing swirls juxtaposed against the rectilinear, which is typical of the period. It is made of 10K yellow gold.
