This sweet ring—an original Art Deco piece from the roaring 1920s—holds an approximate 0.38 carat central transitional cut diamond in squared off fishtail prongs. The main stone is flanked by a pair of small round brilliants and is further accented by a pair of deep blue sapphire baguettes. The platinum shank is a dramatic knife edge style.
The transitional cut is an evolutionary marker in diamond cutting that rests between the Old European Cut and the Modern Round Brilliant. Developed in the late 1920s, it has the signature chunkiness of European cut stones with the fire and brilliance of the modern brilliant.
If worn as an engagement ring, its profile lends itself to pairing beautifully with just about any straight band.
