Camphor glass jewelry became very popular in the 1920s and is an Art Deco archetype. It's made by treating clear glass with hydrofluoric acid vapors to achieve the signature frosted finish; often, there are radiating lines that draw your eyes to the center, where a diamond was often set. As it is in this piece!

A rectangular piece of camphor glass is held in place with four split prongs and centered by a small bezel set diamond. The entire rest of the ring is a beautiful mix of filigree and engraving.

Stamped inside of the band is "BELAIS 14K." Belais was among the first goldsmiths to alloy 18K white gold. In fact, his alloy was granted a patent in 1920! To encourage retailers to buy his pieces, he created the slogan "Belais Made Means Well Made." Considering the shape this ring is in over 100 years after its creation, we have to agree!

How to Wear with Care

Jewelry is meant to be worn, but it's also an expensive ornament. Here are a few suggestions to extend the life of your jewelry:

  • We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or another trusted jeweler every six months.
  • You should remove your rings before swimming or performing any household cleaning, as harsh chemicals can interact with precious metals and permanently damage some stones.
  • Generally, we suggest that you do not wear your jewelry to the gym, in the shower, at the pool, or while sleeping.

We do not sell what we cannot service. Should an issue arise, please get in touch. We offer an extensive range of repair services and are here to help!
