PURCHASING

Yes! All pieces purchased from A.J. Martin include a free written appraisal upon request.

Yes! For our customers, we offer ring sizing either at no charge or our cost, depending on what the piece is made of and whether it's too big or too small. Please inquire by writing us.

We offer both!

For deferred gratification (layaway), we require ⅓ payment as a deposit. You then have 90 days to complete payment before receiving the item. We can split the payments in any way that is convenient for you. For more information, click here.

We offer two forms of financing:

  • Shop Pay allows you to choose between four interest-free payments every two weeks or monthly payments with interest for twelve months. Rates from 0% APR or 10-36% APR. Payment options through Shop Pay Installments are subject to an eligibility check and are provided by these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders. Options depend on your purchase amount, and a down payment may be required. State notices to consumers affirm.com/licenses.

  • Affirm gives you the flexibility to finance your purchase over a period of weeks to several months. Depending on the amount financed and your creditworthiness, your rate will be 0% APR or 10-36% APR. SHIPPING & RETURNS

We ship Tuesday through Saturday and the vast majority of orders ship the day they are placed. For pieces that require sizing, please expect a delay of about a week.

Every item—regardless of price—is fully insured while in transit. Depending on the piece's value, it will be shipped either via USPS or UPS.

All pieces shipped via UPS require a signature.

We have a generous return policy. Within 3 days of receiving your piece, you are welcome to initiate a return for either a refund or store credit. More information is available here.

1. In the Email field, enter the email address used to place the order and click Continue.
2. Open the email sent from our store and copy the six-digit verification code included in the email.
3. Go back to the login page and enter the six-digit verification code.
4. Click the order that you want to submit the return for.
5. If your order has more than one item, select the items that you want to return.
6. Select a return reason.
7. Click Request return.

If your return request is approved and requires shipping, you will receive an email with shipping instructions and a return shipping label. After the product is returned, you will receive a refund less our actual shipping costs.

REPAIRS

We offer a wide range of repair services, the majority of which are listed here.

Repair turnaround is highly dependent on the condition of the piece, the complexity of the repair, and the jeweler's current workload. That being said, most basic repairs are currently being returned in about a week. Please get in touch with us to further discuss your repair.

We do not replace watch batteries or perform watch repairs.

We'd love to help! In the past, we've turned grandma's brooch into rings for her granddaughters. If you know you can't — or won't — wear your treasured piece, let us turn it into something that's more you.

Depending on the complexity of the design, custom jewelry can take anywhere from 2 to 10 weeks to deliver.

A project's cost is completely dependent on the complexity of the design. One can generally expect designing and building a completely custom piece of gold jewelry to begin at $1,600.

The best way to commission a custom piece is by writing us. Please describe what you want in as much detail as possible. We will likely follow up via telephone. Custom designed pieces require 2-8 weeks to complete depending on their complexity.

APPRAISALS

All of A.J. Martin’s jewelry appraisals are done by a local and independent GIA Graduate Gemologist member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. He examines your piece(s) in front of you and—in most cases—requires no more than half an hour of your time.

The appraisal services we offer are:

  • Gemstone Identification and Authentication

The cost of insurance appraisals is $120 for the first item and $90 for each subsequent item. For larger stones ( 1.00 carat), for which a plot should be drawn, a fee of $25 is assessed. A plot diagram is a map of your diamond's clarity characteristics and is helpful with identification. A diagram is not necessary if the stone has an existing certificate from a reputable lab.

Estate valuation work is billed at $240 per hour with a $60 minimum. This rate is charged only for exam time but includes all research and document preparation.
