For millennia, every "ruby red" stone was called a ruby—the science to separate them by chemical composition didn't yet exist. In fact, the Black Prince's Ruby, a large red stone that rests in the Imperial State Crown of the United Kingdom, is actually a red spinel.

We designed this lovely ring in-house around the spinel at its center, which we sourced. Made of 14 karat white gold, it's centered by a bezel set 2.78 carat natural, unheated, cushion cut Burmese red spinel. The spinel is surrounded by a halo of sixteen round diamonds individually set in milgrained bezels. The gallery has a repeating filigree leaf motif, which lets in enough light to showcase the crimson of the stone it supports.

The spinel is accompanied by GIA® Spinel Origin Report #5231860726, which attests that it is natural, Burmese in origin, and untreated.

How to Wear with Care

Jewelry is meant to be worn, but it's also an expensive ornament. Here are a few suggestions to extend the life of your jewelry:

  • We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or another trusted jeweler every six months.
  • You should remove your rings before swimming or performing any household cleaning, as harsh chemicals can interact with precious metals and permanently damage some stones.
  • Generally, we suggest that you do not wear your jewelry to the gym, in the shower, at the pool, or while sleeping.

We do not sell what we cannot service. Should an issue arise, please get in touch. We offer an extensive range of repair services and are here to help!
