The concept of taking grandma's diamond from a ring that doesn't suit you and putting it into a more modern mounting isn't new. In fact, we suspect that's exactly what happened with this piece in the 1930s.
The center stone of this diamond ring is an approximate 0.25ct Old Mine Cut diamond, likely cut in the 1800s. The bicolor gold mounting, however, is straight out of the 1930s. An engraved rose design sits on each side of the central diamond and the shoulders have a Deco-inspired dramatic taper that's reminiscent of an elongated shield.
A lovely marriage between old world design and an even older diamond, this late Art Deco ring would make an ideal engagement ring because it shares one important quality with the love you have for each other: timelessness.
